Cloquet, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The union representing 400 employees at Sappi Fine Paper in Cloquet has accepted a new contract.

Members of USW Local 1163 voted Friday to approve the terms of the contract handed to them by the company.

The Union President, Brady Nelson, said they are very happy that the contract will ensure that all employees receive the same benefits.

The union was concerned about two-tier benefits proposed that would give different benefits to younger union workers. They're calling that part of the contract a victory.

However, the union president did say that when it comes to contract negotiations you never get everything you want.

Major concerns going into the vote were about pensions and wage increases not being proportionate to the increased cost of living.

Two meetings were held Fridayat the Cloquet Labor temple and according to one union member, included some heated moments, dividing voters.

A corporate spokesperson for Sappi said would will not speculate on matters between them and the Union.
